- [S1] Sabine Schleichert, "Otto Family Research". Because his death entry could not be found, we do not know exactly how old Johann Friedrich Otto was. There are four candidates in Glauchau, but three of them can be excluded with more or less certainty. Apart from the one born in 1754, these candidates are:
Johann Friedrich, son of the fisherman, Johann Gottlob Otto, 1736 but this one definitely died in 1782, according to Mr. Volke.
Johann Friedrich, son of the cloth maker Johann Samuel Otto, 1760. This one is too young - he'd have been 14 years at the time of marrriage.
Johann August Friedrich, brother of Johann Carl Friedrich Otto, 1748. He died in 1808 as a chimney-sweep, which would contradict the assumption that "our" candidate was still alive in 1824. He also had the wrong profession.
Another clue is the appearance of another brother - August Friedrich, youngest son of Johann Gottlieb - as a sponsor at the christening of a child of Johann Friedrich Otto in 1779. He'd be an uncle of the child then. - [S286] Marriage: entry for Johann Carl Friedrich Otto - Dorothea Magdalena Müller, 1775 St. Bartholomäus Lutheran Church, Waldenburg, Sachsen, Germany.

- [S1] Sabine Schleichert, "Otto Family Research". One Michael Pester was born in 1579, one in 1590 - both seemingly belonging to the same father. The one of 1590 would be far too young to marry in 1603, and it would make more sense of the one in 1579 married in 1603 and the one of 1590 in 1610.
- [S1] Sabine Schleichert, "Otto Family Research". For marriage entries for a Michael Pester can be found in Niederfrohna and Mittelfrohna:
1603, Feb 22, Niederfrohna; Michael Pester and Anna, daughter of Matthias Preusser; 1607 Oct 17, Mittelfrohna; Michael Pester from Kleinchursdorf and Katharina, daughter of Peter Körten [I find a Langenchursdorf southwest of Bräunsdorf; Kleinchursdorf probably is around there too];
1610 Nov 13, Neiderfrohna; Michael Pester and Gertraud Steger.
Another marriage of a Michael Pester took place in 1634, as Mr. Volke told me.
As we have three death entries for a Michael Pester (1639, 1642, 1644), it seems that the three first marriages indeed belong to three different individuals. The fourth belongs to one of these three; we know that three wives died in 1623, 1630, and 1632. Magalena, daughter of Michael Pester, born in Niederfrohna on 8 Jul 1612, also may belong to eitherof these marriages (source: IGI).
The only clue is that the first appearance of a Michael Pester "up on the hill" is the christening entry of 1613, which leads to the conclusion that this name became necessary only shortly before to distinguish him from the other Michaels. Following this logic, the marriage entry of 1610 should be his. - [S641] Marriage: entry for Michael Pester and Gertraud Steger, 13 Nov 1610 Niederfrohna Lutheran Church, Niederfrohna, Sachsen, Germany.
- [S643] Death.
- [S1] Sabine Schleichert, "Otto Family Research". Two other Michael Pesters died in Niederfrohna in 1642 (without further information, not even a date) and on 4 February 1644 (without further information). The christening entry of 1619 mentions "our" Michael Pester as living "up on the hill" (auf dem Berge), and the one who died in 1639 is named as "the upper". This is only clue that his attribution of entries is correct.
