SUICIDE

A suicide near Dividing Creek is reported in the Bridgeton Chronicle.  A young man named Clemence Moore, aged about 22 years, a son of Hamilton Moore, deliberately shot himself through the left breast with a pistol, causing his death in about three minutes.  He had been at Dividing Creek during the day, and it is supposed was partially intoxicated, when he went to the house of his brother-in-law, John Hickman, and requested a place to lie down.  The report of a pistol was soon after heard by his sister, Mrs. Hickman, who immediately proceeded to his bedside, when he handed her the weapon, saying - "I have shot myself -- I did it on purpose -- good bye" -- and expired.
