Sad
On Saturday afternoon last, a little boy about three years old, son of Jacob Lair, of this place, was so badly burned by its clothes taking fire that it died on Sunday afternoon from the effects of the burn, after suffering the most extreme pain.  It appears that Mrs. Lair had just kindled a fire in the stove in the front room and had stepped out of doors a moment on some errand when she heard screams from the room and rushing in immediately found her little boy enveloped in flames. She smoothered the fire speedily, but not it seems in time to save its life. It is supposed that the little boy had taken a small splinter of wood and was playing with it in the stove, by which means his clothes caught fire.
