Petrified Human Bodies
A few days since the body of Mrs. Loy, wife of George P. Loy, who died twenty-four years ago and was buried some three miles from Dayton, Ohio, was disinterred, to be removed to a cemetery.  Both the coffin and the body were found to be in an excellent state of preservation...  The grave of the grandchild of Mr. Loy was next entered and the coffin exhumed.  It was also found to be heavy and when opened, the corpse presented much the same appearance as that of Mrs. Loy.

The Hon. Isaac G. Farlee, whose death we briefly announced in our last issue, was a native of this county.  He was born in 1787, thus coming into being almost contemporaneously with the adoption of the Federal Constitution....

Last week we stated, from the best authority we could obtain, that a man had died in the neighborhood of Cherryville, on a rail heap, of delirium tremens.  Since we have been told that he had not the delirium tremens, nor was he a drinking man.  The following letter from the pen of Henry S. Trimmer, Esq., relative to the matter, undoubtedly is correct.

A School Teacher Murdered by a Boy - Nashville Whig
We learn from a gentleman who was and eye witness to the following particulars of a most horrible and tragical affair that occurred at Pontotoc, Miss., on Monday last.  It appears that Mr. Brown, the principal of the male academy at Pontotoc, had punished one of his pupils about a week since.  A brother of the boy that was whipped, by the name of Wray, made threats against Mr. Brown for the aforesaid punishment, to which but little attention was paid.  On Monday, young Wray, a youth of some seventeen or eighteen years old, took a position where he knew Wray [Brown?] would pass on his way home, and waited until he came along, when Wray attacked him.
The two clinched, Brown acting only in self defence, and those that seen it thought it only to be a scuffle between them, until they saw Brown run a few yards, his hands upon his abdomen, and fall down lifeless.  While they were clinched, Wray had inflicted two wounds upon Brown with a bowie knief, which killed him almost instantly.

Sad Accident at Metuchin
Last Friday while an acquaintance of Mr. C. V. Mundy was arranging the lock of a fowling piece, not knowing it to be loaded, it was accidently discharged and shot a servant girl named Ann Kennedy, who stood immediately in front.  The contents of the gun entered the left knee joint, passing through the had, severing the large blood vessels and shattering the lower end of the thigh bone into fragments.  The sufferer had lived with Mr. Mundy's family for a long period and had endeared herself to them by her upright and faithful conduct.  Everything was done that could in any way conduce to her recovery.  The services of Doctor Hunt, Morrogh, Decker and Taylor were procured: the limb was amputated and strong stimulants administered; but not withstanding thier best efforts in her behalf, she was so exhausted from previous loss of blood that she continued to sink and expired on the day following the accident.  -  New Brunswicker.

Untimely Death
We learn that James Myers, the clown, and one of the proprietors of Myers & Madigan's Circus Co., recently exhibited at Lambertville, in this county, met with an untimely death while proforming on the Slack-rope, at Geneva, New York.  The ring by which the rope was fastened gave way, throwning him to the ground with such force as to dash his brains out.

A man named Thomas Daily, jumped from the steamer Isaac Newton, on her passage from Albany to New York, on Saturday nigh last, and was drowned.  As the boat left Albany, he was observed with a bottle of liquor, which he drank copiously and became literally crazy.  In this state of mind he took the fatal leap.

Sentence of Mrs. Robinson
The notorious Henrietta Robinson, convicted some months since of murder, was sentenced last week, at Troy, N.Y., by Judge Harris, to be hung on Friday, the 3d of August next.

A funeral took place at Spotswood, on Sunday a week, attended with some peculiarity.  A man named Olcott, who had kept a mill near that place was buried on that day; and the service was attended by two women, both claiming to be the lawful wife of the deceased, and each with a family of children.

Died

In Clinton township, on 14th of March, Mr. Henry Aller, Esq., in the 93 year of his age.  He lived to a good old age and was a useful man in his day.  He enjoyed good health till within the last five years.  He early in life connected himself with the Dutch Reformed Church near Lebanonville.  The deceased leaves his children and a large number of acquaintances to more his loss.

On the evening of her death she complained of a violent pain in the head, which, we are informed by her physician, was caused by a rush of blood.  She was taken about six o'clock in the evening and died about ten.  She leaves a bereft husband and an interesting family of little children.

Church about the year 1830.  The disease which terminated her mortal life was protracted and painful, but as her end approached, she took a firmer hold on the divine promises and at last surrendering her family into the hands of a gracious providence, she gave up her spirit, and we trust through grace, entered the rest of the people of God, in the 65th year of her age.

On the morning of the 5th inst., Capt. A Mother and Son Drowned
A Mrs. Taylor, residing near Brooklyn Lake, in this county, and a son nine years old, were drowned last Friday morning under the following circumstances.  The lad was making an effort to reach a hat that had fallen into the water, when he lost his equilibrium and was precipitated into the lake.  A younger brother being present, gave the alarm to the parents, which caused Mrs. Taylor to hasten to the place in a state of inconceivable fright.  She immediately waded into the lake to reach her drowning child, but unfortunately went too far and was also drowning, when Mr. Taylor arrived at the place, which was but a few moments after she left the dwelling.  He immediately plunged into the lake and swam to Mrs. Taylor, but being seized with a fit of cramp, came near perishing with the others but succeeded in reaching the shore again, leaving his wife and son to the sad fate of drowning within a few feet of the shore.  -  Sussex Herald.
